Boots made using PBI are designed to provide lightweight, breathable protection against the heat.
PBI fabrics are less stiff and offer greater range of movement, improving the ergonomic design of the boots. Being able to move freely and easily whilst still being fully protected is essential in fire and rescue situations.
Although the fabric is lighter than other materials, it is highly durable and flame resistant. It can withstand more than 100 k resistance following initial tearing (more than double any other outer lining), and in many areas it performs much better than other heavier alternatives.
